This “Word of the Week” was inspired by “Sungkyunkwan Scandal.” During the drama, I noticed that the hanja for “Sungkyunkwan” are 成均館. The corresponding hangul are 성균관. I recognized the character 成 as the word “become” and the character 館 as the word for “center” or “institute.” I did not recognize the character 均, which is the character for equal. I’m not sure if the corresponding words have the same meaning in Korean.
Chinese: 均 – jun
Korean: 균 – gyun
Hrmm.. now I really want to go through the drama and identify all the sayings, characters, and hangul.
