Word of the week #12: camera

To continue along the lines of last week, here’s another word that is translated differently in different languages. The Chinese characters mean “light,” “each other,” and “machine.” I suppose it means a machine that uses light to capture the other. In Japanese and Korean, the English word is transliterated. It is written in katakana in Japanese.

Chinese: 照相機 (zhao xiang gi)
Japanese: カメラ (kamera)
Korean: 카메라 (kamera)
